Former Rhode Island Governor, J. Joseph Garrahy passed away late yesterday at age 81. Some of you may not know that he was a Narragansett Goodwill Man before his days in office. Today we remember him and honor the great things he accomplished while in office. He served as Rhode Island Governor from 1977 to 1985 and is most remembered for getting the state through the Blizzard of ’78. The above photo was taken in the 1970s with Gov. Garrahy (left) handing the proclamation for the Narragansett Bock Festival to Barry Sullivan of the sales department. Garrahy is pictured to the far left. Here’s to you Gov. Garrahy and thanks for all that you did for this great state.
